Government did not press for a heavy penalty, in con*^ sequence of the circumstances of the^l case, as the steamer had the mail on board, and was* hurrying on as fast as possible. Auckland, Monday. The representative Chiefs of Ngapuhi left for Waikato this morning ; they g-i up with the firm determination either to have Grey and JSheehan at the meeting or return.
