Mr Me Loan appourod for tho defendant and on bohalf of hig client admitted the chargo; but pleaded that tho offenco was quite unintentional, arising through Mr Oakley thoprecoediug holder of thejjueonao, iioglocty to take out a transfer. He hoped under tho circumstances tho Bench would take d lenient view of the case, as no intent to defraud the revenue was intendod by his client. Sub-Inspector Qoodall said he would not preßS for v heavy penalty, but stated tnat tho defendant had been careless in not enquiring into tho law relating to public houses when taking pobnession. The bench dismissed the case, with a caution to the defendant to be more caref is future : and thanked Sub-Inspect u t Goodall for bringing the matter up. This concluded the business, and the Court adjourned.
