We are pleased to announce that the Government are taking practical measures for the alteration of the present railway line through the main street of Foxton. Some weeks ago Mr Smith, acting for the Government, had interviews with various owners of property through whose land the line would pass when altered, and received the offers at which they would be willing to sell. We are now informed by a gentle" man through whose land the new line will run, that he has received a letter from the Government stating that his land has been purchased for the purpose in question. This fact will be noted with interest by the friends of Foxton in the matter of the junction question.
