On several occasions we have pointed out the necessity fov proper Court£House accomodation at Otaki The present building is leased from the natives, and is in such a position that "were one of the adjoining settlers to fence his land the entrance would be abolished, and the oulvmoiins oi obtaining admission Mould be through a perfect quagmire, barely passablo in sumuev, and utterly impassable in winter. We understand Mr Ward, it.iM., has brought the whole matter of Court accommodation under the notice of the Government, and has pointed out. that as the present building is utterly unsuitable, it might be possible to obtain a room temporarily in the Mission Buildings. The suggestion is a good one, and we have no doubt tho settlers at Otaki . "will thoroughly endose Mr Ward's action. Whilst writing on this, would it not be desirable to have more frequent sittings of tho Court at Otaln than at present ? There are two or throe Justices of tho Poace in the district,* and fortnightly sittings of the Coma might be held, important cases being loft for Mr Ward's regular day.
