RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
♦ PALMERSTON. j Friday, November 29. I (Bofore the Hon. W. Fox and G. M. Suelson, Esq., J.P.'s.) LUNACY. Jans Peter Michelsen was brought up on suspicion of lunacy. H. West deposed that accused had pleaded guilty of attempted suicide by throwing himself on the railway line in front of the engine ; prisoner was, he believed, of unsound, mind, and his life was in danger if left at largo, also the lives of others ; a few days ago he was very violent, and broke the windows of the house he was in, and stripped himself of his clothing ; his habits are sober. A. Nannestead and C. Jansen corroborated the evidence. Medical certificates were put in from Dr Johnston, oi Feilding, and Dr M'Lachlan, of Palmerstom. Accused was oommiiied to the Wellington Asylum. Saturday, November 30. /'Before Messrs Snelson and M'Neill, J.P's.] LUNACY. Francis O'Connor, of Palmerston, was brought up on suspicion of lunacy. Constable Gillespie stated that he went to the Gorge Ferry and brought in O'Connor, who was wandering i about, evidently of unsound mind. George Boyd stated thai on the 25th inst O'Connor was at the Gorge Ferry ; he was looking up at the sun ; he was quite mad on religious subjects ;he continued all day the bank of the river worshipping the sun, and going through all sorts of antics. Colin M'Kenzie, of the Otanaki Hotel, gave confirmatory evidence of the lunacy of prisoner. Medical certificates were put in from Doctors Johnston and M 'Laughlan, and accused was committed to the Wellington Asylum.
