OTAKI HIGHWAYS BOARD.
_ —^ The first meeting of the Board was held at the Court House, Otaki, on 22nd November. Mr J. Hadfield was votod to the chair, and after reading the notice convening the meeting, and the names of the Wardens gazetted, pointed out that the first business was to elect a Chairman of the Board. Mr Hadfield was thereupon proposed by Mr Simcox ; and seconded by Mr Udy, and though pressed to accept the office, declined. Mr Sinicox was proposed by Mr Hadfield, and was induced to accept the chairmanship. The following business was then transacted : — Proposed by Mr Udy, seconded by Mr M'Orae— That Mr J. Hadfield be Treasurer to the Board. Carried. Proposed by Mr Udy, seconded by Mr Hadfield — That the Board's baukiDg account be placed at the
Bank of Naw Zealand, Foxton. Carried. Proposed by Mr Hadfiold, seconded by Mr Davies — 'Chat applications be invited for the oifiee of Cleric and Collector to the Hoard. Curried. Proposed by Mr ICobboll, seconded by Mr Udy— That Mr Davies be doputod to attend on tho Manawatu Highways lijard, fur rha purposa of adjusting the accounts between i: and the Otaki Highway Board ; and that the Chairman notify this resolution to the Chairman of the Manawatu Highway Board, requesting him to prepare a statement of accounts and appoint a day for eettleaient. Carried. Proposed by Mr Davies, seconded by Mr Kebbell — That the next meeting of the Board be held at the Court House on the second Saturday in December, at 2 p.m. Carried.
