The first meeting of the newlyelected County Council takes place to-morrow week, as required by law, at noon. We would point out io the members the importance of being punctual at the meeting, as, directly the minutes are read, the Council will proceed to elect the Chairman for the ensuing term. We observe, by the Act Mr Thynne con. tinues to hold the office of Chair" man until his successor is elected. He will therefore be required to attend and open the meeting, retaining his seat until the new Chairman is elected, when, like Othello, his occupation will be gone.
