Thb Election. — It may be as well to state that every one can voto to-morrow, whether their rates are paid r-r not.

Constable PcucEMi.— Mr Sub-Inspector Goodall is at present in Foxton iuve9tigatiug the charges made against Constable Purcell. Wo have no doubt that M r Goodall will carefully auquire into the statements of the petitioners, and that his decision will be fair und impartial. Three of the Justices resident in Foxton, and tho Chaim<an of the Local Board, have signed a declaration iv Constable Purcell'a fayor.

0. K. ti. Minstrels. — Oa Saturday evening a very large audioneo assembled in tho Foxton Public Hall to witness the performances ol" the 0. It. B. Minstrels. Throughout the whole of tho performance the audience were thoroughly enthusiastic in their applause, and repeatedly encored tho performers. Bones (Air Cheevers), and Tambo (Mr Bent), were immense in their respective parts, and fairly convulsed the audience with their comicalities, whilst Johnson (Mr Campbell), performed his part splendidly. The first part, as usual, consisted of singing, interspersed with jokes and went off very woll, followed by a trip round the world, in which several national songs were introduced. The remainder of the evening was taken up in jigs, ballads, and nigger sketches, concluding with the screaming farce, "Thompson's dead," in which Mr Bent took the leading part. A large orchestra accompanies the Minstrels, greatly adds to the interest of the entertainment. Whilst writing on this, we may mention that ono of the features of Saturday night's performance was the singing of one of Sankey's pieces, " The sweet by-and«bye," which was excellently rendered, the solo being sung by Mr Reid. Tho Minstrels left on Monday morning per coach for Wellington. Their passages had been paid pw Jane Douglas, but owing to the doubt of their arriving in Wellington in time to catch the Taranaki, by which they were to sail for L} tielton, they took the overland route. The steamer, however, got out about 7,0* clock. Theiii Holiday. — The Ministers are nearly all away from the seat of Government at present. Messrs Sheehan and Whitmore are in Dunedin, and Mr Ballance is at Wanganui. After tho " trials " and vicissitudes of the session, they deserve a small amount of repose All Saints' Cuuhcu.— On Sunday eveniug the choir of All Saints' Church, Foxton received an addition to its strength by tho presence of aejer&l gentlemen belonging to the Minstrel*.
