THE ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE MANA"WATTT HERALD.

Sir, — It is extremely refreshing when we see one high-souled inch* vicinal among a community stand forth and fearlessly point out defects of others as a writer has done appa* rently at his own expense, in your issue of yesterday, I say, sir, a community ought to feel proud of having in their midst one of such a keen sense of rectitude ; but whilst men of this stamp are incessantly criticising the soiled garments of others, they should atjleaset bear in mind that it behoves their* to exercise a careful scrutiny over their own little faux pas, and to consider that at times their own actions will not bear microscopic inspection or, in other words, they fail to say what they preach. It has been hinted to me who is the writer of said advertismont, which conjecture 1 have reason to bolieve it correct Hence these few remarks. With the truthfulness of the facts adduced in ihe article in question, I have nothing to say. I believe they are correct. But it haa been hinted to me that said writer is not possessed of the sincerity of principle that makes a man's word equal to his bond. This from reliable authority, and thus 1 will conclude these few remarks by using the writer's own phraseology. He " may be " a man upon whose bare word the utmost reliance may be placed, or he may be a man upon whose honour if you lean, you would End to be a broken reed. I am, &o, Elector. Foxton, November 9.
