Tho following has been sent to ua by " A Foxton Elector," for publication iv our correspondence column : — 'lite day draws near, cast with a fato Of many a scheming candidate j Fiora Waikaiiue to Kiwitea, Election day will soon bo here. The friendly votes have ull been counted. TIIO doubtlulones have been wellsounded ; Committees now considsr where They'll find each man a scrutineer. The candidates, tho' ill at ease, With graceful noda try all to please. Electors think, us they slide by "With me n«t weok you'll bo quite shy. And those who have no votes to sell, Think if they had, 'twould be as well ; And after all this iujs and bother, i About you said this or did tho otlnr. Three months hence they'll think with grief, Thoy have acted so intemperate. So friends my muse may point a moral, The lees are best left in tho barrel.
