Wanted. — Ou Wednesday moriiiu g n number of •written placards were stuck about the streets of Foxton, as follows : — £'> reward. For any one who can find the Foxton bobby. Apply to l.ullocky. -For the infoi.nation of our fellow-citizen, whoever ho may be be, we may explain that Constable Purcell was subpoenaed to Wanganui, as a witness in a horse-stealing case. At the same time, when the local constable is likely to be away for several days, wo think one should be sent down from Wan^" ganui to supply his place, as it is grossly negligent on the part of the authorities to leave a large district for days together without a police officer. Wunpranui is within ea3y reach of Foxton by rail, and it would only be juat for a substitute to bo sent here when Constable Purcell's official duties require his absence from the district. We have urg^d this master strongly oa a pre\lou3 occasion.
