OUR POLICE OFFICE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE MANAWATU . , lIEUALD..
Sin— Oah you give me any information about a certain petition (praying for the removal of Constable Purcell) that is jbeiftg carried about for signature ? I have asked those whom I thought likely to know : something- about it, btft they fought shy of the ma- ter, and would not give me any infoimation. I say "would" advisedly, instoad of "'couU," for I am sure those whom I askod know about it, but would not let me know of their sneaking aU tempt to get a stranger here instead of one who knows every nook and
'corner ofthe district. Only those who have beon interviewed by our • worthy constable, or those who do^ i not like their little games iaterfered^T with, will, I feei certain, bo found* ready to sign it. I urn, &c,
