Murray Dewar, son of Mr and Mrs D. L. Dewar, Scott Street, was among the successful candidates in the University Entrance examinations, results of which were published on Monday. He sat the examination at Waitaki Boys' High School, Oamaru. The death occurred at his residence, Poynter Street, this morning of Mr Horace Ernest Lamb, aged 60 years. Mr Lamb, who was engaged in the brick-laymg trade for a number of years, was well known throughout the district. He had suffered ill health for several years. A private cremation will be held at the Karori Cemetery, Wellington, on Friday.
Two members of the Blenheim branch of the N.Z. Pensioners' Association, Mr and Mrs J. Colville, of Lakings Road, were entertained at the branch's last meeting on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary. They were presented with a small gift from the N.Z. Association and each received a token. Other members who have celebrated golden weddings since the formation of the branch are Mr and Mrs R. S. iBarratt, Hutcheson Street, and Mr and Mrs F. C. Carver, Howick Road.
