Troops in Northern Australia make their own billiard tables out of packing cases, using grey military blankets for cloth and scraps of rubber and calico to fashion the pockets. Cues are very home-made. Says a Y.M.C.A. report: "At. one unit billiards final played with home-made equipment, men came miles to see tne play. There was as much excitement as at a Lindrum match in a city. Markers and scorers officiated with one man giving a running commentary on the play."
