BUSY DAY IN LONDON.

RUGBY, Oct. 27.

To-day Mrs Roosevelt was the guest ! of honour at a lunclieon given by the London County Council. The Deputy Prime Minister and many other members of the Cabinet and the Government were present. Mr Eden, the Foreign Secretary, welcomed Mrs Roosevelt in three capacities, firstly, as the first lady of the United States ; . secondly, as the wife of a great President of a. mighty nation ; thirdly, and above all, for herself. Replying, Mrs Roosevelt said that, having come to Britain at the invitation of the Queen, she hoped to be able to interpret the work of women ' in Britain to her own country. In the morining Mrs Roosevelt visited the eommunications branch of the Civil Defence Heaquarters and afterwards, accompanied by Mr Herbert Morrison and Miss Helen Wilkinson, she visited the London fire region. In the evening Mr Churchill and Mrs Churchill entertained Mrs Roosevelt at dinner.
