GLOBAL WAR SURVEY
ALLIES SWING TO THE ATTACK.
P.A; Gable.
NEW YORK, Oet. 26.'
"The course of battle at present is uniformiy favourafole to the United Nations' cause," declares the New York Times. "The offensive in Egypt was successfully opened with the British and Arnerican air mastery and the British air raids on Italian cities, which caused terrific damage in addition to disrupting Eommel's supply lines. The Russians continue to resist at Stalingad, where the German onslaughts are. apparently weakening; and Russian resistance is strengthening. "The Marines still possess the airfield on Guadalcanar, while the ternpo of Arnerican air attacks increases in the Solomons, in China and in the Aleutians. None of this means that the war is won, The prospects may be suddenly reversed in one theatre or another, but the phase of purely defensive warfare is ending, and the phase of the United Nations' offensive is beginning."
