RED CROSS RELIEF

THE WARD SUB-CENTRE. The October meeting of the Ward Red Cross sub-centre wras held at the hrst-aid post, "Chancet." tho members present being Mesdames H. Parsons (the president), G. Jackson, R. Pattie, J. Rudd, H. Thomson, A. Davidson, J. Johnstone. J. Mofan, M. Taylor, I. McNabb, L. Cr.spln, H Forsyth, W. McAlpine and F. Roberts, Sister Bennett, Misses R. Waters, H. Davidson, E. Thomson, H. Taylor, B. Forsyth, M. Johnston^. B. McNabb and B. Loe. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames T. Taylor, P. O'Connor, W. Morrin, W. Butt, A. Lyford and T. Purches and Miss Elvy. Correspondence relating tc prisoners of war was left with the secretary to maka further inquiries. The Women's Institute committee members were thanked for the offer of a table cover to be used at Red. Cross meetings. Mrs Morrin was thanked for donating the Recl Cross transport, bag now in use. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Pattie for her interesting report on the recent executive meeting held in Blenheim. Several matters were dealt with, includmg the disaster relief fund, the branch deciding toi forward £5 to this worthy cause. During the afternoon Mrs Parsons presented elementary and intermediate homc-nursing certificates to successfui voluntary aids. Later an inspoction was made1 of the first aid, post which this branch has prepared under the direction of Mrs Harvey (the centre president) and Dr Hogg. Articles received were four pairs of hospital pyjamas. To conclude a happy afternoon tea was served on the sunny verandah.
