HIGH-PRICED STOCK
MARLBOROUGH'S IMPORTATIONS. VALUABLE NEW ADDITION. Of recent years some highly-priced stock has been brought into the Marlborough district, and the latest addition, which has just been made. is by no means the least interesting. It concerns a fine Aberdeen Angus two-year-old bull, which was purchased at the recent Dannevirke saies on behalf of Mr W. N. Masefield, of Ellerton, Kekerangu, by Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd. The bull, "General of Waitaria," which has just been landed, was bred by Mr G. V. Smith, of Gisborne, and won second prize in a very strong class of two-year-olds, and was in the second prize group. He was considered by many to be perhaps the best, or second best bull at the show. His sire, "Barkis of Waitaria," was the sire of the 1939 and 1941 champions bred by Mr Smith, and "General of Waitaria" was himself a second and third prize yearling at last year's Hawkes Bay show. Mr Masefield a few years ago pui'chased a very high-class line of Aberdeen Angus heifers, and this latest importation will make a splendid addition to the herd.
