ANNUAL SALE OF WORK
ST. CHRISTOPHER'S, REDWOODTOWN. In spite of rationing and the difficulty of transport, the annual sale of work of the Women's Guild at St. Christopher's Church Hall, Redwoodtown, was a great success. Favoured with a beautiful day, the hall was crowded to capacity and the guild was greatly encouraged by the support of friends from many parts of the parish. The Vicar, the Ven. Archdeacon Haultain, thanked the Guild for its loyal help. The money raised — £58 — will be used, as soon as circumstances permit, in adding a porcli to the building, and in painting and renovation. Mrs D. Haultain, who opened the sale, and her small daughter, Margaret Ann, were presented with pretty bouquets of flowers from the women and children of St. Christopher's, and the Archdeacon was given a button-hole. Following are the names of the stall-holders: Fancy stall, Mesdames Carver and Hodgson; plain sewing stall, Mesdames Smart and Gibson; flower stall, Mesdames Bythell ahd Lawry; ice cream stall, Mesdames Olliver and C. Freeman and Miss Zoe Rayner; cake stall, Mesdames Millson, Wainwright and Vercoe; produce stall, Mesdames Mapp, G. Rayner, and R. Freeman; tea rooms, Mesdames Stephens, Sowman, Longman, Rutledge, Matthews, Thomas, Kemp, and Scott. The president of the Guild is Mrs G. E. Western; Mrs W. F. Cheesman is the honorary secretary, and Mrs Gibson the honorary treasurer. v
