MOTORISTS' WISHES
TYRE ADVISORY COMMITTEE. MOTOR UNION REPRESENTATION. No success was secured by the North and South Island Motor Unions in their second attempt to gain representation on the Tyre Advisory Committee. A reply to representations made to the Minister for Supply stated that the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade and the New Zealand Tyre Importers' Association. which were previousiy interested in the motoring public, both had a representative on the committee. It was felt that these two members were competent to impart the wishes of the motorists in New Zealand, stated the Minister. When this reply was read at last week's • executive meeting of the S.I.M.U. the president (Mr W. R. Carey) pointed out that the representatives of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade and the New Zealand Tyre Importers' Association referred to as being primarily interested in the motoring public, were representing the seller interests, whereas members from the Motor Unions would represent user interests. It was decided to approach the individual associations for their views on the question of pursuing the matter. f
