Cloud-hopping raiders were active all day over the coastal areas of England. They bombed and m a ch i ne-gu rme d about a score of d.stricts, but little damage and few casualties are reported. London, for the first time since January, 1941, had three daylight alerts. due to single raiders over the outskirts of the city. At least two raiders were brought down. Six of the towns attacked were in East Anglia. One town was attacked three times. Ground defences brought down a Junkers 88 in fiames over an East Anglian town. The Junkers blew up, killing its crew. Bombs on a Thames estuary town hit offices and shops resulting in a jilw * mr sm jmt mr jmii • mr mtmmr iwi' mr jmmmr jT m

number of casualties, some fatal. Rescuers are still diggmg for those who were trapped. A Dcrnier flew so low over one East Anglian town that residents saw the bo'mb-doors open. Ihe Dornier also machine-gunned the town. Another raider machinegunned a train entering a station and darnaged several coaehes. No one was injured. Another raider machine-gunned a train in an inland. village. Two persons were- seriously injured. The Admiralty states that a JU-88 which attempted to cross the east coast of England this morning was shot down by A.A. gunflre from H.M. Trawler Lovania and A.A. cuns at a naval base.
