WARM RECEPTION

BLENHEIM SOLDIERS RETURN. PRIVATES HODSON AND GIFFORD WELCOMED. An enthusiastic reception wa-s extended by friends and relatives tc two Blenheim soldiers, Privates Frank ("Nanny") Hodson and Ray Gifford following their arrival by car from the south at five o'clock yesterday afternoon. Tho two1 men, wh' have seen extensive service in the Middle East were accompanicd b>" two Nelson soldiers, both of whom had. been wounded and invalided home. A hastily-arranged reception party, representing civic and patriotic officials, the1 Red Cross, recently returned soldiers, and relatives, met the men at the Drill Hall. Afterwards the gathering adjourned to the A.N.A. Club where a meal was provided free of charge by the proprietor (Mr E. L. Pryor) and his staff. After brief speeches of weicome and more cheers the Blenheim soldiers were handed over to their families, and the Nelson men left by car for their homes, Privates Hodson and Gifford will be guests of honour at a reception at the Services Club on Friday evening. An invitation to this ceremony is being extended to. relatives, friends and the general public.
