NO CAR TYRES
BACK-BLOCKS FARMERS. RELIEF SOUGHT BY F.U. An appeal on behalf of farrners in back areas who cannot get car tyres and so are prevented from coming to town for supplies was voiced by Mr E. W . Rose at last night's meeting of the Blenheim branch of the Farrners' Union. A man with a light truck could get tyres, but the man depend • ing on his car to carry his goods was unable to move if his tyres were done. He moved that the Minister for Supply be asked to provide relief for owners of cars not on service routes or poorly served by other transport. When it became essential for some farrners to come to town, he said, they had to spend a couple of nights in town. "There's still a good deal of waste visible with some P.W.D. trucks," said Mr Harris. "And," said the president, "cream lorries are carting cream here from within half a mile of the Linkwater factory." It was decided to get the secretary of the Dominion executive to take the matter up urgently with the Minister.
