WATERTIGHT MATCHBOX.

NEW YORK, Oct. 11.
The War Department has developed a floating matchbox, enabling troops to strike lights in the most adverse weather. In tests the boxes were water- soaked for over a month without its affecting their contents — 20 matches. The box also contains a small emergency compass.
