INTER-CLUB MATCH. MARLBOROUGH v. SOUNDS CLUB Ideal weather "conditlons prevailed for the match between the Sounds and the Marlborough Clubs, which was played at Fairhall over the week-end. Eaeh club was represent-
ed by teams of 14, and- both were practioally at full strength. The four-ball matches gave Marlborough a lead of 2 up, four matches being won by them, two by the Sounds and the remaining one halved. It was expected that the singles would be somewhat evenly divided, but the home players: proved to bei too strong and won 12 out of the 14 matches, lost one, and one was halved. In the aggregate, therefore, Marlborough won by 16 matches to 3, two finishing all square. As usual the Marlborough ladies att ended to luncheon and afternoon tea arrangements, and full appreciation was expressed by members of both teams for their hospitality in this respect Foliowing are the results, Marlborough players being mentioned first in each instance: — ■ Four balls: Jeffries and Mitchell beat G. W. and M. Godsiff, 4-3; E. Reid and Goodwin all square with J. Godsiff and C. Henderson; Llanfear and Coull beat N. and1 S. Henderson, 4-3; F. F. Reid and Morrison beat W. Henderson and G. Rogers 5-4; Churchward and Moffat beat I. Henderson and G. L. Rogers 3-1; Allport and White- lost to H. Henderson and F. Godsiff 2-1; Matheson and Lloyd lost to H. Godsiff and C. Godsiff 5-4. Singles: Jeffries beat G. W. Godsiff 4-3; E. Reid beat M. Godsiff 7-6; Mitchell beat C. Henderson 3-2; Goodwin beat J. Godsiff 3-1; Llanfear lost to N. Henderson 1 down; Coull beat G. Rogers 9-8; F.
