Thousamds of Paraguayan soldiers were reported on Saturday as trapped and slaughtered by Bolivian artlllery fire, this coming as the clirnax to a seven-day Paraguayan drive against the Bolivian stronghold in Chaco Boreal, Fort Ballivian. Cornmuniques issued by Paraguay and Bolivia indicated that the fighting was the most terrible in the past two years of the jungle war.
