INVERCARG TLL>, Sept. 29. The story of ihe out rage at Nightcaps, when Mrs George Tinker and her daughter, in company with six yonng men, wero attackcd by n gaiig which outnmnbered tllem by three to one, was oxaggerated, as no oue was seriously injilred, and as far as can he asccrtaiiied 110 weapons were used. Nightcaps is a eoai-mining township 60 miles from Invercargill. There has been troublc there for some timo past with the emplovees in oue 111 ino. Geoi'ge Tinker, husband of the vomnn concerned in thc assault, is Invercargill manager of the company controlling tlie 111 ino. It is understood that several men were dismissed from the mine recently, owing to the slack market, and the other miners then ceased work in sympathy. Their p hines wero filled by non-union woi'kers. The 111011 who were attackcd were non-union workers. Detective-Sergeant Car ro! went to Nightcaps to-day, hut so far no arrests have been mad®.
