'By Telegraph-
-Own Correspondent.'
CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 29. Thoroughly impressed with the progress and development of Auckland, Mr C. E. Jones, managing director of Craddock, McCrost-ie, "a.nd Co., Ltd., has returned to Christchurch, after a stay of three mouths in the northern city. Chatting of his impressions with a Sun man, Mr Jones said that there were many large buildings heing constructed in the business portion of Auekland. Oue building at tbe corner of Queen and Customs Street® promised to be one of tlie finest in the Dominion. It oceupied a site which until recently was a licen.sed house, and it would comprise shops and offiees. Cooke and Co. had ;ust let a tender for a ten-storey building in Queen Street which would cost approximately £50.000. Another illustration of progress was that several banks were eueoting new premises in the suburbs. Traffic control. was the major problem at ipresent , especially at Newmarket, where tbe Onehunga, Parnell, and Remuera trarns conVerged. Mr Jones considered that a scheme of one-way traffic would have to be adopted before long. In his opinion real estat© values would rise very considerably in the near iuture.
