ARRESTS IN A CINEMA
_ CONSTABLE'S BRAVE ACT. THREE MEN KEPT AT BAY. The brave act of a eonstable in tackling in the dark three men whoni lie had discovered at night in the Palaee Cifiema, Kentish Town Road, was commended by Mr H. C. A. Binglev, at a London Court reeently. ' The men were remanded on charges of being ooncerned in breaking and entering the cinema, and being found in possession of housebreaking nnplements by night. One rnan's head was bandaged. Constable Gould sfated that at one o'clock in the morning he saw a light flash in the cinema, and, climbing over the iron gates, he entered it by a door which was unlocked, and found that tlie door of the manager's office had been forced open, and that the three prisoners were there standing round a safe. The safe was lying on its face on the floor, and a iarge hole had been made in the baclc. He said to the men, "The game is up," and a second later tlie light in the room went out. One of the men called out- that he would surrendel-, and then, in the semi-dai'kness , the constable saw the three men oonverging towards him, oue of them having in his hand a lump of iron. As the man was about to raise tlie weapon h.e drew his truncheon, and knocked liim down. He then blew hiis whistle, and on the arrival of other o fbcers ; the three men were arrested. Later he found by the safe a brown cardboard attache case containing, among other implements, five chisels,; two jemmies, two screwdrivers, a brace, drill, file, four bits, a hacksaw blade, and/ a wrench.
