BALLi AND PRESENTATI0N 0F PRIZE, S. Tlie annual ball of the Havelock Rifle Club wa held at, the Town Hall and was very well attended. Perry s Orchestra was in attendance and I\les,srs Gilbert Gardiner (president) and McD'owell were in cliarge ot tlie floor 'Ihe preservation of prizes was lo liav© been carried out bv Major Taylor, but he was unable to be present, on necojiot of indisposition, and Mr ti. White, cliairman, oi the Town Board, carried out the duty, 'after a short address in which iie congratulated the winners and refeired to the advantages of rine sliooting from the point of view oi defence and as a pastime. The prizes were awarded a follows : — - Brownlee Championship Cup and Club miniature: 1st, G. Gardiner; 2ud prize Club trophy, D. Bray ; 3rd prize Club trophy, W. McDowell. Lauretice Cup . 1st, J. Gilchrist ; 2nd prize (Y. Granville's trophy) : G. Gardiner. Havelock Suburban Ladies' Cup : lst, A. W atson ; 2ncl prize Club trophy, G. Gardiner. MacQueen Cup : lst Dr McClymont; 2nd prize Club trophy, J. Brcwnlee. Dr McClymont's trophy for higliest season 's aggregate : G. Gardiner. Cox Gordon Cup : lst IV. F arno! 1 ; 2nd prize Club trophy, A. IVatson. Girlings Ltd. trophy: C. H. Andrcws. Dr McClymont's trophy for tlie first range possible registered during season : G. Gardiner. A splendid supper was providecl by a committee of Havelock and Havelock Suburban ladies, who were warmly congratulated upon the success of "their efforts. Dancing was kept up until 2.15 a.m.
