EVIDENCE AT THE 1NQUEST. PETROL TIN 1NSJDE THE CAR. (Received Sept. 27, 0.40 a,m.) LONDON, Sept. 26 'Tlie mystery of the deaths of Mr and M is Lindsay Marshall. in a burning sa-loon motor-car was the subject of an inquest which lasted all day at Blunhain, in Bedfordshire, and was adjourned, as ten more witnesses are to be lieard. When the tragedy was disoovered the oar was at the side of the road against a telegraph post, but neither the jxist nor the radia.tor were damaged, showing that there had been no eollision. The car burnod furiously. One eye-w itness stated that if it had been saturated with petrol the ftre could not have been more intense. Fina-lly, the disoovery of a. revolver near by led to a question whether one or both deaths were accidental or otherwise. Dr Stewart said that he had never seen a oase of burning where cremation had been more comp-lete. Further evidenc© was given that the couple, who were in good circumetances, seemed in exoellent spirits, and they wero on the friendlies't t-erms when they called at a friend's house during the drive. A cyclist who saw the car in flames deelared it was impossible t-o do anything but stand by and watch. He a-lso gave evidence that there were no signs that any attempt had been made to quit tlie car. The petrol tank was int-act. A oonstahle said that he found a petrol tin ir.side the car, the screw of which was lying among the a-shes. Tlie question oi' the revolver was not reached at the timo of the adjournment.
