The Weekly Despatch's Paris correspondent states : There was a panie when eight lions, two tigers and other animals escaped during a circus performance at St. Amand, The tiger dashecl into a butcher's shop and ato so heartily that he was casilv reoaptured. One lion smashed the front of a hatter's shop and lav down 011 a pilo of bats. Aiiotiier entered a cafe, oausing confusion among the eutomers and waiters. A woman cashier faintecl. The other animals escaped to a v.'ood, where they were eventually recaptured, some being lassooed.
