NORTH LYELL DISASTER.
REPORT OF THE COMMISSION
NO CARELESSNESS PROVED
[press association.]
HOtfART, Feb. G. The report of the Royal Commission into the North Lyell disaster on, October 12th states that there is no foundation for the suggestion of incendiarism. Only one witness testified to seeing candles under the billies for warming the tea. The Commissioners consider it unsafe to rely on this uncorroborated evidence. There was no evidence from any other source that the fire might have arisen through carelessness. The Commission considers that the attempt to prove that the fire was due to a defect in tho electrical installation failed.
