Mr See and tho Chamber of Commerce over the Pacific cable congratulating them on tho completion of the New Zealand section. Suitable replies were sent. Melbourne, March 28. Congratulatory messages passed between Sir J. Ward and Mr _ Drake on the completion of the Pacilic cable to New Zealand. t Gisborne, March 28. The Premier has received the following cablegram from Mr Barton, Premier of the Commonwealth : —" On behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia, I congratulate you on the completion of tlie new cable connecting New Zealand with Australia. I believe that this increased means of communication will result in the proi motion of the intercourse and the maintenance of the good feeling which exists between onv respective countries."
