Resolutions were carried : Affirming the necessity for temperance teaching in public schools; authorising the executive to appoint an organising agent for Otago anfl Southland ; viewing with alarm and indignation attempts to force on the colony a system of State or municipal control or ownership of liquor ; and in order to ensure a full vote at the general election on the liquor question the executive of the Alliance was authorised to arrange nominations for |an official candidate on behalf of the ! Temperance Party in all electorates where otherwise there would be no contest.
