Press Association. Electric Telegraph. Copyright. Gisborne, March 29. On arrival of the Hon J. Carroll from the Coast last evening he had a conference with the Premier, representative Native chiefs also being present, and taking part in the consultation. The subject under discussion was that of dealing with Native land placed at the disposal of Maori Councils for settlement purposes, the area in the colony so placed in trust amounting to about one million acres. It was decided that the lands should be roaded and thrown open for settlement as speedily as possible.
