VIGOROUS BRITISH OPERATION.
AN EXTENSIVE SWEEPING MOVEMENT. 1 A GOOD HAUL. London, March 26. An operation was carried out from Commando Drift through Swartzbank, Gestopfontein and Geluk to the Litchenburg blockhouse line. The British columns commenced tomove at dawn on Monday, moving rapidly east and keeping continuously in a line, with the object of driving the Boers against the blockhouse lines or forcing action. Colonel Kekewich captured guns' and nine prisoners; Lord Kitchener captured 89 prisoners, 45 carts and 1000 cattle. Additional prisoners were captured on the blockhouse line. The troops covered 89 miles in 24 hours. Rockfert's and Rawlinson's columns have not yet reported their results. London, March 28. The total captures in the recent sweep amounted to 179. Do la Rey still has four guns, bufc two are useless.
