NEW ZEALAND CONTINGENT.
Wblt.inqtow, January 5. Although the authorities state the departure of the contingent is not yet fixed, it is currently reported it will leave on the 13th.' Although still unsettled, it is probable Qapt. Reid feill command tbe North Island contingent. - The. Prior Ointment Company of Napier has presented three boxes of ointment to the contingent. " The Pocta Company of Napier has sent two dozen pots of horse salve. The Fhoanix Company of Dunedin has offered to send a special box of chocolate for each member of tde contingent. The following have presented horses to the Department for the use of the contingent :— Mr Walker, of Nihaka, through the' Hon. Mr Carrol, two; Oharles Seymour, Gisborne; F. Simmons, Timaru ;J. Buchanan, Hawera ; Wm. Aoland Hood, Bt. Andies, Hawke's Bay ; G. Walker, Mahia; J. Bailey, Mahia ; Alfred Bay ley, Toko; W. Symes, M.H.R., Toko ; H. Handyside, Berbettville; Wigmore, Cambridge^ "W Wyeburn, and Mr McKinnan, • Auckland ; Oapt. Bery, Napier ; one horse eacb.
