*> [OHITJTO PBRBS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, January 4. The Premier addressed the electors at Pahautanui last night m the interests of Mr Field, a candidate for the Otaki seat. The speech waa mainly on the lines of those delivered by him during the election. Speaking of the Old Age Pension he said that pensions for nine months of the financial year had been paid, and they still had £218,000 to the good. As another instance of the prosperity of the Colony he pointed out that when the income tax was first struck they received £68,000. This year it would reaoh £125,000, an increase of 85 per cent. A vote ot thanks and one of confidence m the Government was carried unanimously.
