FRENCH EXPEDITIONS.
Paris, January 8. News was received that a force of French marines landed at Monfcao, a district m Southern China and defeated 1500 Chinese troops, killing 200. The French casualties were 15. A French expedition m Central Africa under M. Toureau and Commandant Lawry, whioh was reported to have met disaster is safe. The leader is sanguine a large direot trade, with Algeria as the centre, will be opened.
