A HUMANE OFFEB REJECTED WITHOUT THANKS. SQUEEZING THE MINE OWNERS. Capetown, December 81. President Kruger has rejected, without thanks, an offer made by Sir James Sievwrigbt, formerly Premier of Cape Colony, to supply an ambulance to the Boer forces. The President explained that he did not accept gifts from the enemy. The Transvaal Government now levies a tax on the output of private goldmines, and on the probable output of mines which have suspended work, amounting to 30 per oent.
