During the reconnaissance made by British oavalry at Dordreoht(9ast of General Gataore's position), 40 of Montmorenoy's scouts were intercepted and took refuge m a donga, - (watercourse). They resisted the repeated attacks of 800 Boers, until 115 mounted rifles, with four guns, appeared and relieved them m the morning, the Boers retreating. The scouts had two men wounded, and all thnir hoi sea shot. The Boers lost 8 killed, and 80 wounded.
