The Agent-General cabled Mr Lyne to inform the Mayor he had received £500 for the Patriotic Fund Irr-n) the Daily Mail Kipling Poem Fund m recognition of the colony's prompt and splendid re ponse to the Mother Country's call to her Children, Calcutta, December 31. "twelve thousand pounds has beiai aubacilbed m India for the War Fund. The thir(* Bengal Cavalry, consisting of mixed natives, subscribed & day's pay to the fund. Wellington, December 30 At a meeting of the DuU' din telegraph and telephone staffs last uight it was decided to ask the officers to contribute a half per cent. «f tbeir salaries to the Traußvaal Fund, the contributions to extend oyer four month*. Further donations are • Union and Australasian Banks £50 each. Chribtohuroh, December 31. There was a crowded attendance at the open air concert m Cathedral Square, promoted by the Lyttelton Times Company m aid of the patriotic fund. The returns are not yet to hand, but the attendance was about 5000.
