Three men •o 1 - warsmeu were courtmartialled on the Ringdove yesterday for desertion, and eaoh was sentenced to 90 days imprisonment m Wellington. Tbe men were found wearing civilians clothes. The rainfall for the year was 52 24 inches, against 41*96 for 1898. The average m 51.24, The heaviest sustained fall was m Febiuary, when 7 95 inches was recorded m ft-ur days. The hveraye daily velocity of the wind for 1898 waa 245 miles, and for 1899 204. During the firs*, four months, however, the velocity was greatly m excess, and the average was lowered by the moderate weather m the early part of the year. Four candidates for the Ministry were ordained by Bishop Wallis this morning. Mokai Koreru, as Deacon, to be assistant Ourate to the Rev. A. O. Williams, Maori Missionary, Wanganui, and the following as Priests;— J. A. McNicol, M.A., for merly of Auckland, to be assistant Ourate at St. Thomas, Newton ; H. Fitz Wilson, 8.A., Selwyn College, Dun^din, to be assistant Ourate at Palmerston North ; J. 8. Bartlett, Sr. Boniface, College, Westminster, '0 be assistant CujQte at Christ Church, Wanganui.
