PRINCE ALFRED A SHAREHOLDER IN THE THAMES.
We are convinced it will be a source of considerable gratification to the residents at the Thames to be informed that, although the Duke of Edinburgh could not personally visit the goldfield, he has shown his interest in the develop ment of the field by becoming a shareholder. His Royal Highness, we understand, has purchased twenty-five shares in the celebrated Long Drive Claim, which certainly bids fair to rival in richness even Hunt’s, or the Golden Crown. Lord Charles Bereraford, we also believe, has become the purchaser of a similar number of shares in the Long Drive, and Lady Bowen became a shareholder a few days ago.—Auckland Herald.
