THE GARRICK CLUB.

To the Editor of the Marlborough Express. Sir, — Some three or four months ago a friend of mine asked me to become a member of an amateur company for the purpose of getting up dramatic entertainments. Can you or any of your readers tell me what has become of it? Has it been strangled in its birth, or what has happened ? Has the stage-manager gone to sleep among the “ flies,” or fallen through a “ vampire trap,” and forgot to come up again ? Perhaps he is studying the part of “ Rip van Winkle,” and making himself perfect in the sleepy business. At all events, it appears to me that none of the members are particularly wide awake. It strikes me that it is nearly time they were. I am, &c., Momus. Blenheim, March 16th, 1869.
