DISGRACEFUL SCENE AT TUA MARINA.

To the, Editor of the Marlborough Express. Sib, —I would beg to call your and the public’s attention to a scene—a disgraceful scene—that happened at the Tua Marina on Sunday last during Divine Service in i,hft,§£hojil i rQom I jvhen the person officiating was suddenly interrupted by a drunken man rushing in the room, and telling him ; well, the language would disgrace your paper, so I shall not repeat it here. The man was ordered out by one of the congrefation, but did not obey for some time ; at last, owever, he went out, and in so doing beckoned the person .who had requested him to leave the room to follow, which- hoping 1 presume to get the man away he did—he had no sooner reached the outside of the building, however, than the man turned round and gave him <. violent blow on the face. The person alluded to had to defend himself, and such a scene of blood took place that would be revolting to relate. Now, air, who is to blame for this—the perpetrator say some—but, sir, some of the blame I think must be attached to the supplier of the drink. It is not legal I believe for public-houses to be open, or to sell liquor on the Sabbath ; and yet, sir, I believe both are frequently done—not only at Tua Marina, but in Blenheim, and throughout the province. Trusting some measure will be taken to prevent this; and in preventing this, prevent such scenes as described above taking place again.—Yours, &c.,

Pro Avis et Focis. S Blenheim, November 3rd, 1868— J .—-- ■——jr
