CENSUS OF MARLBOROUGH.

Some weeks ago we made ah application for the particulars of the late census for publication in the usual manner, but they have not as yet reached us, consequently we have no alternative but to take the following from the Press ; but whether it is an authorised return or not, we have no knowledge. We feel sure, however, that our readers will share our disappointment in one respect at least. Why any difference should have been made with respect to the various towns, is a question the Enumerator only can answer. We think that the same argument, which induced a com : putation for the town of Picton, would have applied equally to Blenheim. Thesubjoined iaareturnof the population, the numbers belonging to the various denominations, number of children attending school under the sevc ral headings, the number of sheep, cattle, and horses, number of acres under crop, and acres held freehold and leasehold, in the several Electoral Districts of the province. The cen'sus of the town of Blenheim is included in the Electoral District of South Wairau, no separate return having been taken for the town : Male. Female. Total.

* The remainder of' the Electoral District of Cheviot is part in Canterbury and part in Nelson.
