MATAURA SCHOOL.

The first annual distiibut ion* of prizes to . the pupils of tlie public school, Mataura, was made ou Wednesday, 24th inst. The Majority " of the prizes were awarde^ on the result of the school inspectors examination. Special prises were also given =by Hesdames Williamson, bhaiiks and Mao Gibbon, and by Messrs Mac Gibbon (senr.), .Olark,Forbes, and the teachers. Certificates of merit were also awarded for proficiency m drawing. Mr Pryde, Chairman of Committee, presented the prizes. The examiners were Mrs JRitchie and Miss iXicollfor sewing, and Messrs Elburn and lialsille for recitation and penmanship lhe following, is the detailed result : — <
