THE MATAURA SCHOOL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Seeing the School Inspector's report published in the columns, of jour last issue re examination of Tuturau School with such favorable . results.. I iam constrained to ask why the same was not conceded on the part of Matau 'a school (favorably or other\*lse). Surelj' the Mataura is rapidly sinking into insignificance when we cannot obtain the facts through your medium (or in other words witbout application to the School Committee). Mr Editor, is it becau.:o the percentage is not sufficiently high to be creditable to the present school management? If so I th'ak the voice of pa"eats and guardians generally should be hf.rd in the matter, and a pubic meeting call' cl by the committee to hear, discuss, ai d dispo :e of ?ny complaint 3 which might be brought forward. I particularly urge this, rs 1 find a so-called private meeting was called last night requesting certain ohildren (only) to attend, but for what purpose was know a only to those supposed to be interested (of whom I am one), though perhaps thought to be on the opposition benches. Asking you the favor of inserting the foregoing in your next issue, and apologizing for trespassing on your valuable spec**, — I am, etc.. Faieplat and no Favok. Mataura, November 20th, 1884.
